As I’ve been trying to get our property more aesthetically pleasing, I’ve been in the process of planting a plethora of evergreens. I’m building a coniferous forest around us!
I’ve always loved the formal look of the European gardens with their stately evergreens dominating the landscape. Whether it be a 10 foot by 10 foot intimate garden or acred land, evergreens show off their beauty year-round through their dark green foliage.
As I’ve been researching evergreens, I came across the Emerald Green Arborvitae, which I’ve used as a privacy screen next to our back patio. The narrow width will be perfect for this area. I’m anxious to see how fast they grow.
Emerald Green Arborvitae:
Dark Green Foliage
3-4 feet wide
10-15 feet tall.
My owl tea cup, which got broken after this pic was taken as a wind came through, lifting the umbrella, knocking it over. (Mother Nature!)
More Emerald Green Arborvitae
Fox Tail Fern
Asparagus Fern and Geranium.
English Ivy and Kimberly Fern.
Hostas.
Spiral Arborvitae and Knock-Out Roses. (At a family business)
I’m a believer that landscaping adds not only beauty to our property, but value as well. Evergreens are low maintenance and can be enjoyed all year long.
Happy decorating. Caprice~Cailin Design

What was the name of the small green shrubs that you said wouldn’t grow very tall? I was wanting to get a couple and can’t remember the name?
