As I was looking around our home recently, I was surprised at the number of mirrors we have. Oh, I’ve been the one to purchase every single one of them over the last 20 some years of my life, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise, yet it does. Mirrors are the secret element to many spaces. They add depth to a space, they make a room look larger than it actually is, they add interest in a very uninteresting place, they add variety to a wall of sameness, they add light simply from their reflective properties and the list goes on and on. I LOVE using mirrors as decorative elements. If you have empty wall space in your home, consider a mirror. It may or may not work, but it’s definitely worth a shot.
This mirror at the end of a hallway makes the hall look longer.
These 3 small decorative mirrors add interest to this bathroom. And who doesn’t want an interesting bathroom? HA!
The key to mirrors is finding the right shape and dimensions for the space we are wanting to place them. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, SIZE MATTERS! If the mirror doesn’t work, it could be that we have the wrong shape or size.
