For 14 years I’ve not loved our red brick fireplace in our sunroom… and I’m a person who likes red brick! So after much debate, I decided to go with a subtle white wash. I actually used an off white paint, diluted it with water (50/50 mixture) and painted it on with a brush then quickly wiped off with a rag. It took no time at all and very little paint. It’s still not my ideal fireplace material, but I’ve improved the look and am pleased with the result.
Subtle whitewash
This whitewashing technique took the edge off of the red brick giving it a softer look. Simple and inexpensive… absolutely my kind of project!
