The Beauty of Arches

For a few thousand years, arches have been incorporated into man’s architecture. Arches seem to be so very appealing to the eye, whether it’s over a window or a walkway. Many years ago I had some outdated paneling removed in my kitchen and dry wall hung in its place. The contractor and his wife, who just happen to be friends of mine, put in 3 arches to add interest to a very uninteresting area. If I could, I would go through my entire house adding archways!

This arched area houses a television. It was once a simple square.

This opening was smaller and also squared off. We widened it and added the arch to make our kitchen nook feel more open.

Arches are architectural elements which add interest to a space. It’s elements like the arch that give a home a unique, detailed, interesting look.
