Valuable lessons I’ve learned about design during my short life:
1). Sometimes, what you think will look absolutely fabulous, doesn’t look good at all.
2). Sometimes, what you think won’t look good at all, looks absolutely fabulous.
3). Most of the time, size does matter. The size of the canvas on the wall, the size of the rug under the coffee table, the size of the armoire…… it MATTERS.
4). As of late, the Elegant-Sophisticated style can be paired with the Country-Casual look. Crystal and barn wood can mix and mix well. I actually love this look.
5). Comfort is key to a beautiful home. If you sit down on a stiff, uncompromising chair… who cares that it looks great…. comfort is a large component of beauty in our homes.
6). It only takes one statement piece to have an impact in a space. This might be a rug, a wall hanging, furniture piece or a wall painted in a spectacular color.
7). Never let the lack of money get in the way of your design goals. There is ALWAYS a way!
8). ANY room can be turned into a FABULOUS space with some creativity.
9). All design styles have their place, embrace them all. You might scoff at one today, but be careful, you may just love it in a year or two.
10). Always, believe in the style you like. You are the only one that has to be happy with the space you call home. Okay, that’s coming from someone who is single… you may need to compromise with a significant other! Ha!
To make my Caprice~Cailin graphics I used a photo text design app called WordSwag. $4.99 in the App store and so worth it!
Happy decorating. Caprice~Cailin Design
