There are 4 Tools I have been using for some time now in my quest for an inviting, beautiful, good for the soul home.
1. Tape measure – I NEVER leave home without one in my purse. I just never know when I might come across a lovely piece of furniture, wall art or rug that would be the perfect addition to my home.
2. Pinterest – This website/app is a great resource for ideas on about any subject you can think of. When it comes to design, it’s just incredible. I search “painted armoires” and up pops more photos than my mind can absorb of armoires that have been artistically painted. Check it out if you haven’t already.
3. Houzz – This website/app is also a wonderful resource for designing ANY room of our home, even the exterior (landscaping, pools, decks, outdoor fireplaces, etc.) We can choose a style we prefer such as Contemporary, Traditional, Mediterranean, etc. and then browse hundreds of photos of people’s homes around the world. We can get multiple ideas as to what we want to do with our own homes. Houzz has articles to read about renovations and the stories behind them. It’s fabulous. Be careful… it’s a time-sucker. One can easily spend hours on it. This is my go-to app.
4. Inspiration – Does the piece I am looking at move and inspire me? When I see something that I personally think is beautiful, it sparks a feeling. A good feeling. And because I like to surround myself with beautiful things … I check the price tag!😃
